Deep Thoughts by Maddy

In high school I used to watch Saturday Night Live on occasion. One of the skits that my friends and I used to try to spin off and create on our own was a segment called "Deep Thoughts" by Jack Handey. Here is a sample from SNL:

Deep Thought #1:
"Maybe in order to understand mankind we have to look at that word itself. MANKIND. Basically, it's made up of two separate words "mank" and "ind." What do these words mean? It's a mystery and that's why so is mankind."
Deep Thought #2:
"A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. "Hear that?" you say. "That's dynamite, baby."

Well, often in my day, I replay Maddy's "Deep Thoughts". Okay, the humor may be a little different since it is coming from a two year old. And it may not be funny to everyone else...but it always puts a smile on my face. :) Both of the "Deep Thoughts" this week happened in the car:

Deep Thought #1:
Mom: "Maddy, Is Andrew sleeping?"
Maddy: "No Mommy." (pause) "ANDREW, CLOSE YOUR EYES!" (LOUDER) "CLOSE YOUR EYES, ANDREW!"
Deep Thought #2:
(While driving in the car, Andrew loves to "blow raspberries")
Mom: "Andrew, what are you doing? Are you talking?"
Maddy: "No, mommy. Andrew is an elephant."
(The sound Andrew was making was the sound Maddy associates with the sound of an elephant).
